About

Argentine plastic artist Cesar Vazquez, combines the art of sculpting, woodworking and painting, inspired by natural raw materials, everyday life and the movements of Arte Povera and Surrealism.

The “Petra Collection” is the seminal result of his contact with Greece and the Cycladic Civilization.
The protagonists of that work are the stones, that noble, resilient and timeless material, which greek nature so generously provides.
Each stone, transformed into an anthropomorphic sculpture, spins its own unique story, autonomously or as a part of a composition.
Primitive and minimalistic, the stones in the “Petra Collection” carry the heavy load of history, local and universal alike.
Being an Argentinian from the subtropical area, Cesar is inspired by natural raw materials, which he collects and transforms into aesthetic objects.
A major part of his work focuses on bringing together the art of sculpting (stone/wood/metal) and painting, a process where nature and civilization, inertia and change rise as the central elements of his artistic quest.
